Vejrø past and future
Vejrø is located in the sea called Smålandshavet a little closer to the north of Lolland than southern Zealand. There is no public transportation to Vejrø – if you want to get to the island you can sail or fly on your own or let us arrange transportation.
The entire length of the island is 2.6 km, approximately 700 meters wide and 155 hectares. Of this,100 hectares are used for organic farming. The remainder of the land is houses, gardens, forests and meadows.
In addition to the hexagonal lighthouse, there are seven houses, all bearing their historic names, are named after former residents or their original functions, for example, the island's oldest surviving farmhouse, Blæsenborg, lighthouse assistant Skriver’s House or The Old School.
We are now trying to develop the inherent potential of Vejrø. Rooted in, and with respect for the historical and natural development, we strive to create: An island that is in balance, active and productive. An island where people, either privately or in connection with business, will appreciate and feel the uniqueness, can come - experience, see, hear and taste - with a clear conscience!
